When someone enters through a nether portal, they teleport to the exact same coordinates on the nether. For example, the nether portal on the overworld is on 100,60, 1000 (X,Y,Z). If they use the portal, they are teleported to 100,60,1000 in the Nether, possibly dying in the lava or getting lost, which ruins the survival experience.
