When snow starts to gather on tree branches, removing the branches often leaves the snow suspended in the air.

(I think but am not sure that gathering snow also doesn't fall if other blocks it's on are removed).

I'm pretty sure in past releases it would fall. Apologies if this is an intentional design change.
