Dolphin is in a tank with no overhangs, caves, greebles, one-wide holes or other obstructions.  Tank is ~20 deep.

Dolphins have been observed to swim to a random corner and stop moving, eventually drowning themselves. This happens more frequently with larger pods, but has been observed with even single individuals. When the issue happens with a pod all individuals will be clumped in the same spot, heads together, jostling to be closest to the corner. This happens for named and unnamed entities.

If caught in this state bumping/hitting them sometimes seems to take care of it. Dropping items into the tank can also break the stuck state.

Since items can break the state I think they may be trying to path to an out of tank item/point of interest.

Behavior can be observed in as little as 15 minutes from spawning them in, but usually takes a few hours to manifest. Test cases have always been in loaded chunks.
