You can sprint when you are inside a Minecart. Steps to duplicate:
1.Put some powered rails down and activate them with a Redstone Torch
2.Put a Minecart on them
3.Get inside the Minecart, push the button to start and after you started going,
double press the start button again and you will start sprinting.
