Me and my friends have a dedicated world that has been running for two years, then out of the blue he got forced into visitor mode upon joining in the world. This then changed his player data resulting in his inventory and ender chest contents being deleted. I don't know how this was caused but before he last logged off he was standing in the open having changed his skin recently.
