This is really old and may be intended, but it breaks Java parity and seems very out of place to have literal 60 block drops from the surface to near the bottom of the world out of nowhere.

Expected behavior:

Java ravines are no deeper than 30 blocks. Some underground ravines can reach lava level, but not while also breaching the surface. Java ravines are also generally narrower, straighter, and shorter.
