In both creative and survival mode, my character is able to go into one block gaps, with my head inside of the second block. This happens with several materials, and it seems to happen more commonly with leaves. I can fully stick my head through trapdoors. Also, directly after getting out of a bed I am able to fully clip through the wall next to me.
