I found a zombie with full gold, and to get it, I lead it underwater. Expecting the items to drop, they stayed on the drowned and the helmet appeared to be invisible, but when I surfaced above water, the helmet reappeared. I did this several times, to see what the problem was, but I think it's a visual layering issue.
