In an existing Beta world - anyone who joins (players 2, 3 etc) the original player can not break blocks.  They seem to be disappearing but they do not drop, and if you step forward you can take suffocating damage because it thinks you are inside the block.  Only the first player who the worl belongs to is able to break and pickup blocks.
