If you create a custom weapon for an add-on and you add both the durability and weapon components, the durability will not work on the item. I have confirmed this is true by creating a pack with multiple new weapons. All the golden weapons have the weapon component removed and take durability damage, the rest retain the component and do not take durability damage.
