Mobs will freeze in place until chunk is reloaded. While they are frozen, the mobs can still do things but invisibly. For example, if a zombie was attacking me and suddenly experienced the bug, it would freeze in place but I would still be attacked by an invisible entity. While being attacked, the zombies body would appear to be AFK. Imagine how this is for creepers!
