      This comment explains that they are triggered by different underlying hardware/software.

      Torches have been having a strange texture lately. Its not always but it happens once in a while. Note: This also affects 1.16.200.53 as well this post was made before the new version was released.

      This is possibly caused by enabling the "Education Edition" toggle.
