For Some Reason my freind on xbox can type on his screen but i dont see any words when we play multiplayer worlds

      for some reason i cant see my freinds chat in the chat bar but he can see mine perfectly and i can see others perfectly too! ive restarted my minecraft and he has too and we even went on different worlds servers and realms and nothing has worked!
