After going to minecraft.net and downloading the .msi launcher (for Windows), I opened it and "Downloading Native Launcher" showed up except it looked slightly blurry, as if it wasn't even loading. After a few seconds, another pop up appeared saying that it was unable to update it. I've tried redoing this process multiple times but it still wouldn't work. I ran an older version of the launcher and it worked, but I'd really like to use the newer one. I tried finding other people with the same problem, but I can't seem to find one in 2018 (unless I'm completely fucking blind.) What can I do to fix this? Also, if there something I'm missing or need to show you?
