Disclaimer: I couldn't put Optifine 1.8.9 so i put Minecraft 1.12.2(It does happen to 1.12.2 as well).

I am using Optifine 1.8.9 to play Minecraft. I hit play and then it closes the launcher. My Mouse does that blue-spinning-circle-thing then stops. I wait for Minecraft to open but it doesn't so I press Ctrl-Alt-Delete then press task manager I scroll down only to find that Java Platform SE Binary is a background process. Look.
