Currently the Linux Minecraft launcher is throwing an error when using openjdk version 8 to launch minecraft version 1.7.10 (or really any version of minecraft that strictly requires java 8). The error claims there is a mismatch in the version number of java runtime.
[Info: 2023-01-07 04:18:16.834279380: MinecraftJavaRunningContext.cpp(249)] Java Runtime Version : 1.8.0_352 [Info: 2023-01-07 04:18:16.834300513: MinecraftJavaRunningContext.cpp(250)] Java Runtime Version Required : 8
It is true that the version numbers are different, however, if i remember correctly, that is an old numbering system that java had until they dropped the 1.x and went with a single number for the version.
The current workaround is to delete or rename JavaCheck.jar which will allow minecraft 1.7.10 to launch.
