Cannot browse files for skin .pngs on MC launcher

      So I just wanted to update my skin but minecraft was like "hell nah" and wont let me browse my files or rather browse and select the .png file without CRASHING the launcher and the launcher doesn't show with an error message.

      I would like to know what's happening and how to prevent it.

      Also if more info is required I can do so.
