When launching Minecraft I usually would just allow it to automatically log me in, but not anymore. Now I not only have to CHOOSE between one of two meaningless options, but each time I select the "Microsoft" option I get NO CHANCE for it to simply remember the device (it's ALWAYS my PC, only one device here CAN run Minecraft) and thus must hunt down a password that I otherwise NEVER use, despite the fact that pretty much EVERY OTHER APP I HAVE EVER USED offers just that, the option to remember the password!

Apparently this problem has existed since 2020! Or a similar one, anyway.
