When I run the launcher without an internet connection I get the usual Bootsrtap log up to "Starting launcher." The launcher window then goes white. There's no buttons or option to play offline. I've tried leaving it for over 30 minutes and nothing changes. Reconnecting to the internet while its in this state has no effect. I can't quit the launcher and have to force quit to kill.
Once I re-connect to the internet and restart the launcher everything works fine.
I've tried re-downloading the launcher and deleting ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/ (and backed it up!) but it hasn't cured the problem.
This used to work fine, but not sure when it stopped working. Maybe with the 1.7.2 update, although I wouldn't imagine that would affect the launcher.
Here's the log;
