My minecraft launcher says that it cannot connect to the internet despite my computer being connected to a working internet, I've searched through similar/related issues but cannot seem to find a solution that has worked (I've removed incompatible software such as AVG Antivirus and Byte Fence and cant see any other incompatible software from the list on my computer, I've also uninstalled, re-installed, gotten friends to give me their Program folders/.minecraft folders. trying all these different methods has yielded no results) and I cannot seem to find the issue, now if I'm being completely honest I'm happy playing offline, the issue with that is the fact that the launcher refuses to download the current version of minecraft.
This is the error that shows up, I've tried downloading the necessary files 1by1 but it grew tiresome after a while. all I really need is the version 1.5.2 working correctly and I'm happy to play in offline mode...
Failed to download file.
