After updating to the most recent launcher, launching the game will crash upon launch. Pressing the "PLAY" button will give an error message.

What I expected to happen was:

The game would open in a new window and would run.

What actually happened was:

An error message appeared:
"ERROR
Game crashed
An unexpected issue occurred and the game has crashed. We're sorry for the inconvenience."

Steps to reproduce:

1. Launch the Minecraft Launcher.
2. Set the version of the game to any version 1.12.2 or older.
3. Press "PLAY".

Extras:

I have tried erasing and re-downloading the versions of Minecraft that I want to launch.
