Hello,
The fire trail mob enchantment is not scaling properly with difficulty. A player character that walks into the purple fire by mistake dies faster than human reaction times would allow for moving out of the fire or use of healing abilities. This needs balance and adjustment because dying instantly while at full health is not fun.
What makes this enchantment so unfair is when the fire trail is paired with gravity. The player character gets sucked across the screen into the fire and instantly dies. I've had it happen faster than I can blink on a number of instances. I even tried equipping my armor with the Final Shout enchantment. When combined with healing artifacts, this typically saves me in 7/10 situations but the fire trail is still instant death.
I have some suggestions to balance this aspect of the game.
- Spread the damage out over 5 seconds (Even if you walk off the fire) This ensures the fire trail damage dealt is still deadly but gives an opportunity for the player to react.
- Just straight up reduce the damage dealt by fire damage, it is quite excessive.
- add items/enchantments that reduce damage from elemental sources (Fire, lightning, etc...) (We could use an additional item category say for enchanted rings)
- When a player's health reaches 0, add a 1-second delay for the player to have an opportunity to heal, you could make healing to prevent death 1/4 as effective as a normal heal.
- Add totems of undying artifacts to the game that prevent death and grant temporary immunity from damage for 5 seconds but are consumed upon use.
