I've been unsuccessfully trying to add friends or join friends on minecraft dungeons (playing on my pc, game attached to the account on this email address, purchased on 8/19/20 through the microsoft store). I don't have the option to make or join a party before the game is opened. Once the game is open there is no invite button on friends' names. They are listed as on or offline depending on whether they are on or offline. They are able to join with each other.

I've tried all sorts of logging in and out, and went through an extensive list of checks when seeking help from the gamers chat support through xbox. The conclusion after over an hour was that the problem was "very odd indeed" and that I should seek support through Mojang . Please tell me you will be able to help me fix this. (BTW, I'm long since out of the tutorial) The entire purpose of getting this game was to play as a group and they are starting to get bored.

I'm sorry I didn't think to take a screenshot before and no one is available to get online ATM. If needed I could get one later and send it but as I mentioned above the option to join isn't available before entering the game and there is no invite button in the online game screen over the names of those friends who are listed as online. I've exhausted all ideas I've come across to try and fix this. Please help.
