Yesterday's update changes to ghasts and blazes are highly problematic

Blazes now shoot fireballs at you from such high distances (more than 50 blocks away, probably further but I haven't determined the max distance from which I am being hit) that it is impossible to escape them. Also, blaze fireballs hit you even when you dodge them, and also appear to be going around (or through?) corners made of netherbrick. If this change to blaze distance shooting is intentional, it is such a terrible change that I can't even imagine a single one of the players ever asked for this change, or is going to like it, as it makes the nether almost unplayable.

Ghast fireballs are more problematic. They (fireballs) can no longer be hit with arrows, though I can't tell if this is a problem with the bow and arrow or the fireballs. I am shooting them with an enchanted bow (Infinity, Power V, Mending). I'm guessing it is the fireballs, because they exhibit two other buggy behaviors. They don't appear to be shot directly at you from the ghast (like at a slightly weird angle), but they damage you as if you were hit directly. They also seem to be going right through blocks that should be resistant to ghast fireballs, like cobblestone and netherbrick.

I put these two issues together, as they seem related (nether mobs shooting fire from high distance), and I wondered if programming to one entity muddled the programming for the other.
