Affects Version/s: Past Release - TU53/CU43/PS4 1.50/Patch 23/Nintendo Switch Patch 3, Past Release - June Release (TU54/CU44/1.52/PS4 1.53/WiiU Patch 24/Switch Patch 4, Past Release - (TU55/CU46/Vita 1.53/PS3+PS4 1.54/WiiU Patch 25/Switch Patch 5
Affected Platforms:Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Nintendo Switch
I was building a world in Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition after the most recent update. I was building a small Mail System. I named a Trapped Chest "Mailbox" and I named a regular Chest "Mail." I placed both Chests, then saved and exited the world. After loading this saved world a few days later I noticed that both Chests did not keep their name. I had expected the names to remain, as they have in most past versions of Minecraft.
This issue affects Chests, Trapped Chests, Shulkerboxes, Hoppers, Droppers and Dispensers. (All Storage Interfaces)
The glitch affects every type of nameable interface other than Enchantment Tables and Furnaces.
Step 1. Name previously mentioned item(s).
Step 2. Place the item(s).
Step 3. Save and Exit the World / run far enough away that the area the item(s) is / are no longer loaded. (reload the chunk)
Step 4. Reload the World with the placed item(s) or run back to the location of the item.
Step 5. Open item(s).
Result: The item(s) will no longer have it's / their name.
AFTER UPDATE (TU54/CU44/1.52/PS4 1.53/Wii U Patch 24/Switch Patch 4):
The bug is no longer affecting Named Chests and Trapped Chests.
The bug is continuing to affect Shulkerboxes, Hoppers, Dispensers, and Droppers.
I am now able to build what I was being prevented from building, but this is still an issue with other storage options.
