No icon in item-frame-map.

I have put a map into an item frame on my server and there is no icon showing at all. I presume an icon should show on the map to indicate where the item frame is placed in the world, but there is no icon on the map to show that. When I first bought the Minecraft game for Xbox360, I did see an icon (I think that it was a light grey or white icon) when placing a map into an item frame, but I do not see it now.
