I am not able to play the Minecraft 1.9 update, singleplayer or multiplayer. Yes, I have looked for other reports of this bug, but none of them are yet resolved and are also related to older versions. This has also never happened to me in any other versions of Minecraft. Here is the game output from the launcher:
