Riding in a boat stops world rendering completely, if you just rides to the end of where you can see still nothing will render, you can basicly ride arround the boat in middle of nowhere and nothing will render. When in unrendered chunks you cannot dismount the boat either but you cannot ride the boat where there should be blocks in normal case. But this is a pretty serious bug.
