I tried to break gravel in creative with my bare hand and nothing happened. I equipped a diamond shovel, but still nothing. I switched my game mode to survival and tried it, but that didn't help either. I could mine stone and everything else, but not gravel. I also couldn't place any blocks on top of or around it.
