Minecarts on decending rails should stop when hiting a block.
Instead, when the slope is only 1 block low, the minecart enters the block.

Place a rail inside a 1 block deep hole.
Place another rail next to it.
Place a minecart (of any kind) on the top rail.
Push it down.
The minecart glitches inside the block.
