Unconfirmed
For the past month I have been having these issues where Minecraft would freeze at the dirt screen after Switching Worlds/Dimensions, Teleporting, Logging in/Logging Out, and Dying. After the game keeps running normally. This issue did not occur in 1.7. This also does not occur on Mac OS X or Windows. Also this occurs under the latest java(8u51) as well
