Water Bottles would have the same texture as always. (Glass bottle with blue water inside.)
What actually happened was the bottle was not normal, but rather a Purple and Black block that was drinkable.

I'm not sure how to reproduce this bug, but I found it when I had a water bottle or some in a chest from 1.8.8 and when this server updated to 15w31c they were MissingTexture blocks.
