Whenever holding barriers in 1.8. - 1.8.4, you could see the placed barriers.

This, however, does not work anymore.

The barrier blocks will stay invisible forever. You would need a texture pack or the F3 menu open to see that it is a barrier block.

Other than that, only the hitbox is shown.
