Hold down the Fn/Globe key along with Command and Q, or rebind "drop item" to something else.
On windows and Linux, you can drop a stack of items by hovering over it and pressing control+Q. On macOS, this shortcut is changed to command+Q, causing it to conflict with the shortcut for closing the app. macOS allows the player to bypass this problem by holding down the Fn/Globe key along with command and Q, but this is rather cumbersome and not widely known about, so many Mac players feel as if they are missing a feature.
To fix this, the "drop item stack" shortcut should be rebound from command to something else. I wonder if changing it to shift across all OSes wouldn't be a good idea, since shift is already used for moving a stack of items and the positioning of the control key on Apple keyboards is somewhat inconvenient compared to PC keyboards. (edit: I just realized this wouldn't work when not in the inventory, I'll propose something better soon)
