Minecraft is not launching properly

    • Laptop is a windows 8 computer that is running windows 8.1 .
      Java is running version 8 , update 40. Please note that I have already tried to reinstall minecraft , but it stays the same.

      The minecraft launcher won't launch minecraft.

      What I expected to happen was...:
      Minecraft to launch

      What actually happened was...:
      Minecraft launcher blurted an error at me in the game output tab.

      Steps to Reproduce:
      1. Open minecraft launcher
      2. Click play
