I made a large mine track with a very large hill. The whole track from a top view would look like a slightly deformed oval. The hill goes from roughly sea level to the highest point you can go... So cloud level.
To get up the hill I have a bunch of powered tracks, and to keep mine carts moving when they're empty, I have a bunch more powered tracks sprinkled in throughout the track.

I created 4 mine carts and set them loose on the track. At some point one of the cars picked up a creeper. The creeper did not, to my knowledge, explode--- because if it had, I assume that part of my track would be destroyed.
Neither way, all 4 mine carts are gone- blinked out of existence. No idea what else happened, but I just ran a reverse loop through the track and have been watching it from a high point and have visually affirmed that all of the track still exists and that there are no minecarts on it.

      Another thing that happened earlier-
One of my wolves was picked up by one of the cars. He was standing. He couldn't get out of the cart. The game looked like he was flickering around the cart as it ride by, definitely glitching. He looked like what I imagine an electron looks like in an electron cloud... But... In the form of a wolf.

The way I solved that was by breaking the track high up and letting the cart fall to the ground... To the wolfs demise.
Zombies rode on the carts too but that didn't look like a glitch.
