In this case, the wire block next to the dropper isn't connected to it according to the rendering, but it still delivers a pulsing signal that repeatedly activates the dropper when it's not empty. Thus, the graphics are misleading. (If the same wire block were one block lower, the circuit wouldn't work, and the lack of a displayed connection would be correct.)
