What I expected to happen was...:
Find wolves, and tame them.
What actually happened was...:
Cannot find wolves. Manually spawned wolves cannot be tamed, and will despawn if no player is in the area
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use my world
2. Try to find wolves
3. When that fails, spawn a wolf.
4. Try to tame that spawned wolf. (hearts will appear, but they will not be tamed)
5. When that fails, disconnect.
6. Reconnect, and find your untamed wolves are unspawned.
Additional info:
This world was upgraded from a circa Feb. 2013 world that was since unused. 90% of chunks were repopulated using mcedit, however, in the remaining 10% there are places where wolves should spawn, but don't.

I can provide a link to the world upon request, but I'd rather not do so on a public bug report. Please contact me if needed on my registered e-mail.
