Game Crashes When Joining . leaving. and joining another/ the same server

      Hello
      My game is crashing on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS when on minecraft 1.7.x+
      I can reproduce the issue by
      1.Loging Into Minecraft
      2.Joining a multiplayer server
      3.Leaving a multiplayer server
      4. Joining a single player world / multiplayer world
      The error message comes up 5-10 minutes later saying
      minecraft internal exception java.io.ioexception error while write(...): Broken pipe
