This happens on a multiplayer server.
Frist create a map and some zoomed out versions of the map.
Second place a copy of each map in a picture frame.
Third remove map from frame.
Green dot will still be on map and it will no longer update. If you place the map in a frame on another wall, the green dot will not change direction. Map is essential frozen.
This has happened in minecraft for as long as I can remember. Wish it would have been part of the maps upgrade. Screens show green dot pointing the wrong directions.
