After downloading minecraft on my new computer I found that I could not download resource packs and most of the textures and sounds were scrambled. Upon further inspection I found several missing files from the .minecraft directory and even some random ones that didn't belong like 5 files named "textures_x.png" (x being a number from 0-4). I've re-installed the directory several times now and have had the same results each time.
