Tried to download mincraft using the launcher but came up with an error saying ti was un able to run see below

It then stops and will not go any further
Steps to Reproduce:
1. I clicked to download game through minecraft.net
2. run launcher as usual and recieved the error message above..
Message above states that there may be a problem as the computer I am on is XP - could this be the problem?
