Boats are not working properly. (I just tried to recreate the glitch, but it didn't work for me. It might not work for you guys.)

What I expected to happen was, to find land after I exited my island with a boat.

What happened was, I got into my boat and then got out, but then I couldn't get back into the boat or move it at all.

Steps:
Craft a boat
put boat in water
Get in boat
Travel a bit and "sprint" every now and then with the boat (I was doing it for 10 minutes, then night time hit)
Exit the boat
Try to move the boat and enter it
