If you are viewing through the eyes of a Creeper or a spider in Singleplayer and then exit out to the main menu while doing so and then join a multiplayer server, you will still have the spider or creeper vision effect.

If you enter third person mode, the effect will disappear

Steps to reproduce:
1. Spectate though the eyes of a creeper or spider in any singleplayer world
2. Bring up the pause menu and click 'save & exit'
3. Enter a 1.8 multiplayer server

Note The multiplayer server was a default minecraft server with no additions to the client or server.
