Unconfirmed
NOTE: this bug is similar to MC-55419, but I think this is not a dupe
When the player attempts to teleport to a faraway x or z coordinate, the game stops them and displays an error message. However, this is not the case with the Y axis.
I executed the following command:
"/tp @p ~ 10000000000000000 ~"
(16 zeros)
The game teleported me there for an instant but then the world kicked me, showing an error:"illegal stance". When I try to load the world again, it shows the same message and kicks me again, forcing me to delete the world.
steps to confirm:
1.Create a new world, make sure you have cheats
2. execute the command above. ( so far 16 zeros is the least y coordinate that creates the bug, any greater number will create the same effect)
This should be fixed be coding an error message when the player attempts to tp to a y coordinate higher than y256

MC-55419 Since some snapshots it's possible to tp to great (and sometimes wrong)Y axis distances.
