I have a double spider spawner set up as a grinder. It has powered lights so lights on nothing spawns, lights off all hell breaks loose. However lights are on and spiders are spawning inside the brick walls. Spiders spawn inside the brick and die. The lights are on so the spawner should not be producing anything. No idea if this is the same deal with other mob grinders.
