I decided to start to build a little hut for some cows I found. I was going to place a wood block thinking things would be fine.

When I placed the wood block, my minecraft had crashed. I tested it again with every single wood type. All of them did the same thing. (not planks).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go into your inventory and grab a wood block.
2. Close inventory...
3. Try to place it.
