Breaking trapdoors

I placed 2 trapdoors (wooden/iron) and say next to each other
What actually happened was...:
I placed 2 trapdoors among each other and they broke and gave me the item back

Steps to Reproduce:
1. place 2 solid blocks with 2 block space between
2. place 2 trapdoors next to each other on the 2 blocks
