If you eat a food item but it doesn't fill up your hunger bar completely there is an issue where if you let go of right-click but still have the food item selected it will it another piece to fill up the hunger.
This also happens if you're in the inventory screen or in a chest or furnace.
This may not be the biggest of issues but when for example eating a golden apple it makes quite a difference.
