I was working on a map and I put a redstone torch under a block expecting the door to open.
But when I did that, the door didn't open like expected, it stayed shut. I later discovered that it would only open after a block update.
To replicate:
1. Put down a redstone torch.
2. Put a block above the torch.
3. Put a door above the block (wooden or iron) and you will see it won't open unless you give it a block update, but then it will work fine.
Now, I am sorry if this isn't a bug or you're working on it already, I'm pretty sure it's a bug.
